Moyes: My deadly United duo of Van Persie and Rooney are BETTER than Liverpool's SAS... and they'll be the best in the world

David Moyes believes his Manchester United striker duo of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are the best in the country and will eventually match any pair in world football.
Some have suggested Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are the most potent front two in England after their performance in the 4-1 win over West Brom last weekend. But Moyes still feels Rooney and Van Persie have the edge and will continue to improve.
‘Wayne and Robin, on their day, will be a match for any players in the world, never mind just in this country,’ he said. ‘So when those two are firing, they are the best.

‘They’re incredibly talented, both natural goalscorers and both can play in several positions.’
United travel to Fulham looking to build on wins over Norwich in the Capital One Cup and Stoke and Sunderland in the Premier League.
Moyes will be without midfielder Michael Carrick, who has an achilles problem, but hopes Van Persie will be fit, despite problems with toes and groin, and that last weekend’s late comeback at home to Stoke will be a sign his side are regaining their mental toughness.

‘I do see signs that the players are beginning to find a little bit of form,’ said Moyes.
‘I’ve seen it even in the game last week. It was proof that it’s there, that they have got that capability and we might have to do it a few more times before the end of the season.
‘We’re not at the level of consistency we’d like to be at but we’re striving to find that and there are maybe signs that it’s coming back.

‘We’ve played well in a couple of games but had to chase things for different reasons.’
Moyes revealed yesterday that he has no plans to change the captaincy at United, despite skipper Nemanja Vidic missing games through injury.
But asked if Rooney could one day be United captain, the manager said: ‘I think Wayne has always had an ability to be a captain. He’s got a love of football, which is the biggest thing.’
